OREGON AND WASHINGTON MINIMUM WAGE TO INCREASE
EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2008

Effective January 1, 2008, the Oregon minimum wage increases by 15 cents to $7.95 per hour pursuant to ORS 653.025. Oregon has no training wage or lower rate for under-aged workers.

Washington’s minimum wage will increase 14 cents to $8.07 an hour beginning Jan. 1, 2008. Washington’s minimum wage applies to workers in both agricultural and non-agricultural jobs, although 14 and 15-year-olds may be paid 85 percent of the adult minimum wage.

Both Washington and Oregon laws prohibit counting tips in meeting the minimum wage.

Although the federal minimum wage of $5.85 per hour is lower, private, state and local employers must comply with their state's higher minimum wage
