Pro Bono

Miller Nash has a long-standing commitment to providing pro bono work to individuals, families, and nonprofits throughout the Northwest. We don't do this because we have to. We do it because we believe in helping the people in our society who are underrepresented. Our Community Works program was specifically developed to help people who would otherwise be unable to afford legal counsel. Through this program, we've partnered with the Oregon Law Center, The Juvenile Rights Project, and the Multnomah Bar Association Nonprofit Project among others. Miller Nash encourages our lawyers to participate in pro bono matters by allowing lawyers to use 120 hours of their annual billable hours goal on pro bono work

We also maintain a pro bono office with specialized reference materials, and we strongly encourage all of our lawyers to participate in pro bono service. Each year we award the prestigious Clifford N. Carlsen, Jr. Pro Bono Award to the lawyer performing extraordinary service. The award includes a donation by Miller Nash to the winner's non-profit organization of choice.
