     Verne attended or served on the faculty of University of California at Berkeley, Harvard Business School, Columbia Law School, University of Oregon Law School and Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College.

     Verne has served on the Board of Directors of various Oregon corporations. He also is an active on the Board and serves as Trustee of several nonprofit organizations.

     He enjoys flying airplanes (not too large), and has done so for many years. He also likes to climb up and ski down mountains (not too high). Verne has been a runner for many years (not too far and not too fast) and continues to enjoy the sport. He is married, has four grown children, and four grandchildren.
